Part 4 / 11
The shared battery
Watts decide whether a rig may run. Energy decides for how long. Every running rig draws from one battery measured in kWh.
How fast it drains
A rig drawing W watts uses W ÷ 1,000 kWh per island hour, and one island hour passes every 60 seconds of play. The top strip shows the time left at your current load.
| Ready rig | Draw | kWh per island hour | Bits per island hour of energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 33 W | 0.033 | 0.50 | |
| Brick | 82 W | 0.082 | 1.23 |
| Tower | 165 W | 0.165 | 2.48 |
| Twin | 290 W | 0.290 | 4.35 |
| Forge | 457 W | 0.457 | 6.86 |
| Summit | 581 W | 0.581 | 8.72 |
Refills
One kWh costs 15 Bits. The Energy tab offers 0.5 kWh, 1 kWh, 2 kWh or a fill-up. The battery holds 1.5 kWh per grid level, so raising the grid also lets you store more.
When the battery is empty
Every rig stops at once. No part is damaged and your Bits stay put, yet nothing new comes in until you refill. Dust does not build up on a stopped rig either.
